The entire team of the Belvédère hotel welcomes you to its beautiful region, and wishes you a pleasant stay in Calvi :
We are pleased to make you discover our wonderful island of beauty, its natural wealth and also the culture of Corsica!

Calvi Citadel of Corsica

From your room in our hotel in Calvi, you can reach the headland of the Revellata, in about one and a half hour of hiking. From this magnificent place, you will be able to contemplate the fortified city of Calvi and its citadel, which appears clearly in its role of capital of Balagne.
Beyond the ramparts, the vast old residences seem to supervise the coasts. The Phoenicians, a people of maritime traders, would have used this bay as a shelter in the 5th century BCE. But it was by the time of the Genoese occupation (XIII century) that the citadel of Calvi was built. Even if the beache of the Gulf of Calvi extend for miles, the city itself is quite small. However, one get lost with great pleasure in the alleys and staircases of the citadel, among some crooked houses, that are all plastered in soft colors.

A little advice : if you didn't came by train, but by car, it is better to park it before visiting Calvi, maybe at your free parking place that is reserved for you when you stay at one of our hotels in Calvi. That will be wise. No doubt your steps will take you immediately to the port: The Quay offer the best viewpoint on the Citadel. You will see an isolated dungeon, just in front of the ramparts, is the tower of salt. It used to be a warehouse, after being erected as a fortification.
